App FAQs

Nerivio Infinity requires an NFC-enabled phone to authenticate the electrodes. While most modern smartphones include NFC, some older or budget models may lack this feature. Here are a few categories of phones that generally do not support NFC: Older Budget Smartphones: Many entry-level or older budget phones, especially from brands like Motorola, Samsung A-series (some models), and LG, may not include NFC. Certain Mid-Range or Older Models: Some mid-range phones released before 2018 may also lack NFC. For instance, older Samsung J-series models, certain Xiaomi and Huawei budget models, and older OnePlus Nord devices. Tablets: Most tablets, including models from Amazon Fire, Samsung Tab A, and iPads, typically do not have NFC capabilities. To ensure compatibility with Nerivio Infinity, please verify whether your phone supports NFC by checking your phone’s specifications in the settings menu or consulting the manufacturer’s website. If your phone does not support NFC, you will need an NFC-enabled smartphone to authenticate and use the device properly.
Nerivio Infinity is now available in several locations, please contact Nerivio Cares at 1-866-637-4846 or consult your healthcare provider. However, you will need a new prescription from your healthcare provider to receive this upgraded model. Once your provider issues the prescription, you can place an order with the pharmacy supplying your Nerivio device.
No, Nerivio Infinity cannot be charged during treatment. This is a safety feature designed to protect users. The charging port is inaccessible during treatment, and the app prevents charging while in use.
With Nerivio Infinity, an internet connection is needed for NFC verification. You can perform up to 3 treatments offline, but a connection will be required before starting the 4th treatment.
The Nerivio Infinity device is a durable medical device designed for long-term use (expected service lifetime of 3 at least years). We've kept its price similar to the original Nerivio to ensure it remains accessible to patients. The electrode pads include a smart microchip that ensures each pad delivers 18 effective treatments, monitored and controlled via the Nerivio app.
Here you can download and print the user manual (LBL-NM-0014-00 Version 4.0 November 2024). The user manual is in English. You can also watch Important instructions for effective treatment here.
The armband is designed to secure the device on your arm and ensure proper contact between the device and your skin for optimal treatment. During your first use, adjust the armband to your size by inserting the strap in the appropriate size slot. To expand the armband, use the armband extensions, included in the box. If you experience any issues with how the armband fits, please contact Nerivio Cares at 1-866-637-4846 for further support.
Nerivio Infinity uses a standard USB Type-A to Type-C cable, which is included in the box. If the cable is lost, we recommend using a high-quality USB Type-C cable from a reliable manufacturer, or you can request a replacement directly from Theranica’s customer support.
A full charge from a depleted battery takes up to 4 hours, providing enough power for 8 treatments. However, you can charge the device for 25 minutes to get sufficient power for one full treatment.
The Nerivio app displays the current battery level for Nerivio Infinity device as a percentage. Additionally, the app will notify you when the battery drops below 20%, giving you enough time to recharge before it’s completely depleted.
The Nerivio device is good for 18 (eighteen) 45-minute treatments, and once those treatments are completed, the device should be disposed of according to the instructions. Theranica has a recycling program, see “How can I recycle my Nerivio device or Nerivio Infinity electrode pad?” To minimize moisture loss, when unused, the electrodes should be covered with the provided protective film and the device should be stored in its original package or in the travel bag. Also, it is recommended to refresh the electrodes with a drop of water as described in “The stimulation is not felt. What should I do?” question.
You can request a new electrode pad through the same refill process used for the original Nerivio model. The process remains unchanged.
The Nerivio Infinity device is rechargeable, but the electrode pad is good for 18 (eighteen) 45-minute treatments. After 18 treatments are completed, the electrode pad should be disposed of according to the instructions. Theranica has a recycling program, see “How can I recycle my Nerivio device or Nerivio Infinity electrode pad?” To minimize moisture loss, when unused, the electrodes should be covered with the provided protective film and stored in the aluminum bag. Also, It is recommended to refresh the electrodes with a drop of water as described in “The stimulation is not felt. What should I do?” section. Please note that the battery may run out after approximately 8-10 treatments. When this happens, please charge the device using the supplied USB cable. As such, it’s good practice to always make sure your device is charged for your next treatment. We recommend keeping your aluminum foil bag with electrodes pad and Nerivio Infinity in the travel pouch, and always carrying it with you, so you're prepared to treat wherever a migraine occurs and to ensure you don’t miss your every-other-day preventive treatment schedule.
Each electrodes pad is good for up to 18 treatments (45 minutes each) and will need to be replaced afterward. Once the electrodes pad is authenticated via NFC (as part of the connection process when starting a treatment), the app will show the number of treatments remaining with the current electrodes pad. Additionally, the app will alert you when only a few remaining treatments are left.
For guided assistance you can use the on-boarding guide in the Nerivio app located under ‘More’->’Nerivio Infinity device’->’Connect a new Nerivio Infinity device’. To connect your Nerivio Infinity to the Nerivio app, you must enable Bluetooth and NFC on your smartphone (Near Field Communication is a technology that allows your phone to wirelessly exchange data with other nearby devices, such as contactless payment terminals or other NFC-enabled devices. In iOS phones the NFC is automatically enabled. To make sure it's enabled on your Android phone, go to Settings, find Connections or Network & Internet (depending on your phone model), and look for the NFC option. Switch it to "On" if it’s not already enabled). If you are using an Android phone, location access should be allowed, and location services should be turned on. The app will request you to allow these permissions. Turn on the device (a slow flashing green light indicates the device is turned on) and press ‘Light is flashing’ in the app. Now the app will search your Nerivio Infinity device and connect to it. The first time you connect the Nerivio Infinity device to the app, it should be no more than 1 inch away from your smartphone. If you have already connected the app to a specific Nerivio device, an automatic connection will be established once the device is turned on and the app is opened. Each device can only be associated with one user account. Sync the Nerivio Infinity electrodes pad with the app by tapping on the NFC tag. In order to sync the electrodes pad to your app you need to start a treatment on your app and after prompting to tap your smartphone on the NFC tag, touch the tag which is located on the electrodes pad with your smartphone. Consult the Quick Start guide or User Manual for detailed instructions.

Nerivio will turn off automatically and has the following shut off features:
- The first time the device is turned on to pair and set up, the device will shut off automatically after 10 minutes.
- For all subsequent treatments, the device will give you 3 minutes to start the treatment and if not started, shuts off afterwards.
- If you pause the device during a treatment, the device will automatically shut off after 5 minutes if treatment is not restarted. Up to 3 treatment pauses can be used to ensure undisturbed treatment.
- At the end of any treatment, the device will automatically turn off after one minute.
These built-in timers will not impact the device’s ability to provide 18 (eighteen) 45-minute treatments.
For Nerivio Infinity, the device will also turn off when the battery runs out or when it is connected to a charger for safety reasons.

Nerivio is not a TENS unit. Nerivio and TENS units use different mechanisms of actions, based on different electrical pulses and different stimulation sites.
Nerivio’s remote electrical neurostimulation (REN) mechanism is specifically designed to activate conditioned pain modulation, in which stimulation in the upper arm activates nerve endings that in turn activate a natural pain-relieving process in the brainstem, causing a global effect of pain inhibition that affects the original source of migraine pain in the head.
This differs from the mechanism of TENS units, which stimulate local nerves and compete with local pain fibers to block them from working (a mechanism termed gate theory), and thus must be applied at the same location of the pain (i.e., the head, during a migraine attack).
Yes. Nerivio, a prescription use, self-administered device for use at the onset of migraine headache or aura, or every-other-day for preventive treatment, for episodic and chronic migraine with or without aura in patients 8 years of age or older.
Make sure that the protective film was removed from the electrodes, that the device and the app are connected, and that the treatment has started and has not been stopped or paused. If you’re using Nerivio Infinity, also ensure that the electrodes are in sync with the app by tapping the NFC tag. Set the treatment intensity level so it feels strong yet comfortable and painless by pressing the ‘+’ button in the app. If the stimulation is still unfelt, it is possible that the electrodes are losing conductivity and adhesion strength. With the device turned off, use your finger to gently rub one or two drops of water onto the gel surface of the electrodes to improve their adhesion. Wait for about 20 minutes for the water to absorb before applying protective release liner or starting treatment. You may repeat the refresh process multiple times. If the adhesive surface of the electrodes is damaged, you should replace the Nerivio device or Nerivio Infinity electrodes pad.
The device transmits electrical pulses. You will need to set the treatment intensity level by increasing it to the highest level that feels strong yet comfortable and painless. You may feel a strong sensation at first, but it will typically fade to a comfortable level after a couple of seconds. If the sensation is uncomfortable or painful, you should decrease the intensity. During the treatment you might experience a temporary sensation of warmth, local tingling, numbness in the arm, pain in the arm, or redness of the skin, which should disappear shortly after the end of the treatment. If you experience hand numbness and/or muscle twitching, try changing the location of the device on the arm.
You should set the treatment intensity level at the beginning of every treatment, so it feels strong yet comfortable and not painful. This is important to maximize the clinical benefit of the treatment. The intensity can be adjusted in the app by touching the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ buttons. To set the intensity to a personalized optimal level:
- Start increasing the stimulation intensity using the ‘+’ button and stop when the stimulation is painful and/or uncomfortable
- Reduce the intensity to one-two units using the ‘-‘ button.
For your safety, repeatedly pressing the ‘+’ button will gradually increase the intensity.
Set the intensity at the beginning of your treatment – no need to change it during the 45-minute treatment (unless you set it too high and it’s uncomfortable). The sensation will fade to a comfortable level after a few seconds; there is no need to increase it.
Nerivio can be used on either arm, regardless of the side of the headache.
For an acute/abortive treatment, Nerivio can be used to treat your migraines at any time. Our clinical data show that Nerivio is more effective when used right when the symptoms start, therefore it is recommended to start treatments with Nerivio as early as possible and within 60 minutes of the onset of aura or migraine headache. Nerivio can also be used for additional treatment sessions if the headache is not relieved or if it reoccurs. In addition, Nerivio can be used for preventative treatment, see the FAQ “When should I use the Nerivio?”
Nerivio can be used for both acute and preventative treatments.
- ACUTE TREATMENT - TREATING A MIGRAINE ATTACK
- When needed
- 45 minutes treatment
Use Nerivio as often as needed to treat migraine attacks. For best treatment results, begin treatment as early as possible during a migraine attack.
- PREVENTATIVE TREATMENT - TREATING FOR MIGRAINE PREVENTION
- Every other day
- 45 minutes treatment
For migraine prevention therapy, treatment should be performed every other day. Treatments can be performed at any time during the day; the most important thing is to pick a time that is convenient for you and stick to it. The Nerivio app offers treatment reminders, so you never miss a treatment.
- COMBINING ACUTE AND PREVENTATIVE TREATMENTS
Nerivio can be used to prevent migraines and to treat migraine attacks as follows: use Nerivio every other day to prevent migraine and as needed to treat migraine attacks.
For example, if you choose to perform a preventative treatment every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and:
- If you have a migraine attack on one of the days in which you do not plan to perform preventative treatments (e.g., Sunday) - conduct a 45-minute treatment when your migraine attack starts. Then continue with your preventative treatment on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday as usual.
If you have a migraine attack on one of the days in which you are planned to perform a preventative treatment (e.g. Monday) - you can do one of the two: if you already preformed your preventive treatment and then had a migraine strike, you can perform another, acute treatment. There is no limit to the number of treatments per day you can perform. If you haven’t performed your preventive treatment yet, you will also serve as your usual preventative treatment). In either case, continue with your preventative treatment on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday of this week as usual.
Both models are indicated for acute and/or preventive treatment of migraine with or without aura in patients 8 years of age or older. It is a prescription use, self-administered device for use in the home environment either at the onset of migraine headache or aura for acute treatment, or every other day for preventive treatment.
The device should not be used by people with uncontrolled epilepsy and should not be used by people with an active implantable medical device, such as a pacemaker, hearing aid implant, or any implanted electronic device.
The device should only be applied on the upper arm over dry, healthy skin with normal physical sensation and without any metallic implants or in proximity to cancerous lesions.
Nerivio refers to a family of Nerivio models:
